What is SAP?

The Standard Assessment Procedure for new homes

SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) is the government’s method for assessing and comparing the energy and environmental performance of new dwellings. It’s a mandatory requirement under Part L of the Building Regulations for all new domestic construction.

A SAP calculation must be submitted at design stage (to accompany your building regulations application) and again at as-built stage (once construction is complete). We handle both — and can advise early in the design process to make sure the build is on track to pass before it gets to site.

Early involvement means fewer surprises. We regularly work with architects and self-builders from concept stage to help shape specifications that will meet the required targets efficiently and cost-effectively.
